Your Donation Helps Support Stroke Recovery and Care in Our Community!
The SPSRA is funded entirely by the generosity of the community, in the form of personal donations from individuals and families, along with grants from local service clubs, municipalities, and public service employee charitable funds. We are very grateful for our donors, without whom we would not be able to continue providing services!
Our generous donors include the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #37 Poppy Fund, the Rotary Club of Sidney, the Knights of Columbus Council #9703, and the Provincial Employees Community Services Fund. We also benefit from a partnership with the University of Victoria through the Office of Community-Engaged Learning.
All monetary donations are used to provide our members with professionally guided rehabilitation programming, specifically the Movement and Communication groups. These groups are facilitated by our only paid service providers: a registered Kinesiologist, and a registered Speech Language Pathologist. Our confidential Caregiver Support Group is peer-facilitated, and all SPSRA administrative, organizational, and community outreach tasks are conducted by volunteers.
We’re sometimes mistaken for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Stroke Recovery Association of BC. We are independent and not affiliated with either organization, nor do we receive funding from them. We are proud to be a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency. Tax receipts will be issued for any donation of $20 or more. Our charitable registration number is: 81811 7368 RR0001
